Baby Robbins In Their Nest On My Security Light

These adorable baby Robbins have taken up residence on the security light, next to my back door. Their mother sleeps in the pine tree by the edge of my property. She becomes very agitated when my dog lays in the area of her nest. Mom is busy running back and forth feeding her young all day long. These three cute little birds are getting so big, I'm afraid they're going to fall out of the nest into my cat Tessa's mouth. I try to watch the area closely, so I can make sure that doesn't happen. Hopefully they'll be flying away soon.

  3. Hello Jamerson, I like birds too. They truly are a gift to the world. When I was younger I found a baby black bird that fell out of it's nest. I raised it, by feeding it every hour around the clock, til I was able to teach it to hunt for worms and release it into the wild when it grew up. What an amazing experience that was for me. Have a great day.

Hello Eva, I was sitting out doors yesterday and decided it would be nice to snap a photo and create a post about these baby Robbins. It's nice to know that they bring good luck. I am also wishing you a very nice Wednesday!

  13. Birds are sure crafty...especially when I lived in the city. If you saw a birds nest in the city..instead of the usual grass and straw, you would see a nest made of candy wrappers, drink straws, anything they could get their beaks on! Thanks for the picture...it made me think of those Urban birds and laugh!

    Have a great day,
    Jamie

  14. I love it!!! My yard and I have birthed a lot of babies and I'm a very proud parent. I feed the birds and squirrels and have been fortunate to see so many return year after year, as well as their parents. I called a wildlife organization once when I found a baby bird outside his nest. I was told to leave him alone, that that's what many baby birds do to leave the nest and the parents are usually very close by. She was accurate. I think I watched all day, just to be sure nothing happened to the little fella. I've since learned that when I hear A LOT of noise, it's a baby bird leaving the nest with mom and dad usually close by. It usually only takes a day or two and then he or she is off. It's an interesting process.

As you know, I love birds and animals and when we first bought this house I thought it so strange that there was no music. None. I'm not kidding. So of course as always I filled the yard with birdbaths and feeding stations and within two weeks, the place was singing! I can't imagine anyone who would want a yard without the beauty of nature, but apparently the pervious owner did. We planned to have a house warming party and invite the previous owner, but when I asked about why the fences were all blocked off at the bottom, he said "Because I HATE cats." I crossed him off the list. (He was obviously unaware they could jump over them!)

I've read all the posts I've missed and they're lovely. I'm going to make the mushrooms. I'll tell you how they come out. I also love your garden. It's beautiful.

So nice to be here dear friend and thanks for always stopping by.

    XO

  16. Hello Ceilo,
Yes they do make their nests in strange spots and they're soooo cute. One summer they made a nest inside of our garage and everytime I opened my garage door they were either flying out or in. Wishing you a wonderful 4th in return! The weahter in my parts is supposed to be nice.

    Hello Centsible mommy,
Welcome to my blog. How interesting that in the city they made their nests out of things other than straw. Birds are real rugged. They know exactly what they need and when they need it. Have a wonderful day and a great 4th of July!

    Hello Suzanne,
It sounds as if you have a very lovely yard. I think it's so important to bring wildlife into your yard. I get so happy when there are all kinds of wild life living in and visiting my backyard. Next year I want to do a pond, because when we had one at our old house I always heard the frogs at night and loved it.
I couldn't imagine hating cats! I love animals too. I use to have 4 persian kitties. I now have one persian left, a cute tabby and a huge rottweiler. They all live in harmony with each other.
I'm so happy your going to try the mushroom recipe and that you also enjoyed my other posts. I also enjoy your posts. Thank you for your visit and I also look forward to visiting your blog again soon.
    Have a wonderful 4th!
