"Close up of a Rose" Watercolor

This is a close up watercolor of a rose that I painted for my mother in 1998. She hung this painting in her dated 1970's kitchen right after I gave it to her. When My father sold the house after my mom passed away, he put a lot of his stuff in storage. We cleaned out his storage unit last month and had a huge sale. I came across this painting while rummaging through his things and decided to keep it. Maybe I'll hang this painting in my daughter's room.

  1. It is a beautiful watercolor, Lydia. I am glad you found it again and got it back.

I would love to show it on my French blog, together with your photo portrait, if you allow me to do so. I would like to post it as soon as the series about Riga is finished.

    Wishing you a rosy day,
    Eva

  2. If all of your paintings are in your home, it must be a beautiful place to be. All the colours and natural beauty and your serene beauty as well. (I think I've used the word "beauty" enough for today.)

  3. Lydia, your paintings are always so lovely, and this rose is no exception. How wonderful that your mother was able to enjoy it in her kitchen! And now your daughter!

  4. Hello Eva, I would love it if you posted my painting with my photo on your french blog. How exciting! Thank you so much! I have been enjoying your posts about Riga. Have a wonderful evening.

Hello Kat, Thank you. I don't have all my paintings hanging at once I mix it with other artist and always switch paintings around. I get bored of my walls so easy, then some of my work ends up in the basement. Have a nice evening.

Hello Amber, Thank you. I remember back in 98, I painted a picture of a yellow morning glory with a monarch on it. It was for a good friend of mine. My mother loved it and asked if she could have it. I felt so bad that I had to say no to her, so I painted this rose watercolor framed it and gave it to her the following week. She was thrilled to receive it. Have a nice evening.

  5. Hello, dear Lydia,

thank you very much for giving me permission to post your rose watercolor. I just finished preparing the post, adding two lines of a French rose poem and your two portrait photos, the avatar from this blog and the avatar from your former blog (the one in the blue blouse). I like them both and could not decide which one to take. So they are both on now. That will be something for the Frenchmen to look at...

By the way, there is a Frenchman who likes you a lot. He had a sneak peek at my post "Lydia Cooking" and commented (in French) that he finds you very beautiful. I told him to visit your site (I bet he did!) and to leave you a comment. But I cannot see it, so I suppose he is too shy or does not know any English or whatever ...

His name is René, the blog name is "bunny", you'll find his link on my blogroll.

These are the latest news from good old Europe. It is midnight here and I will go to bed now.

    Have a pleasant evening,
    Eva
