Remembering My Mom's Birthday

Today would have been my mom's birthday. She would be turning 79 years old.

I wanted to dedicate this post and pretty photo for a day that use to be very special to me, and the memories of when our family use to have birthday parties for my mom. On the day of her birthday, I remember me and her rushing over to Etna's Italian bakery, so we could pick up her favorite birthday cake, a rum cake. I hated the taste of rum cake, but made sure she had one every year to make her happy.

She loved having her birthday parties and became very excited when her birthday was approaching. It never bothered her that she was getting older. She didn't care at all. I really looked up to her for her carefree and cheery attitude about aging. I remember asking her, "doesn't it bother to to get older?" and she use to respond by saying "who cares, the only thing I'm happy about is feeling good and being happy." I wish I were more like that.

Happy birthday mom!

  1. Hello Lydia,
Sorry for taking me so long to reply to your lovely comment regarding my bookmarks!
I`m also Sorry for your loss!
Your lovely mother seemed to have been a W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L lady!
With a beautiful view about life!
By the way, you aren`t the only one who worries about ageing!
    Me To!
Specially since my 3 Treasures are growing up so quickly.
And I`m loving their present ages.
They are so loving and innocent, and I just don`t want them to grow older and change!
Fingers Crossed... and much Love giving to them... and they won`t!
    Lol
    Kisses,
    Debbie Moss

  2. Hello Debbie,
Thank you for your kind words about my
mom. She had a very nice out look on growing older and accepting the changes that take place with the way we look as we age.
I'm not so accepting of that, but I wish I were.
It's so nice to watch as kids get older. They grow so fast. I'm sure your the same as me, where it seems like a year ago when I was in the hospital with my daughter. It's amazing, she's already going to be 8 years old on the 13th of this month. Needless to say we're having a Valentine's birthday for her.
How sweet of you to give me rewards. I'll go over now to get them.
Wishing you a very nice weekend and also wishing you much joy and happiness watching your 3 adorible little treasures grow.
    Lydia

I know your mom had to have been a wonderful human being, because just look at you!

You're a wonderful, sweet, compassionate, loving wife, mother, and friend.
