March Means Garden Planning

Now that March has arrived. It's time for me to start mapping out a plan for my vegetable garden on paper. Around this time of year I get so anxious about getting outside to work in the soil. As usual I will reserve a spot in my garden for a patch of cheery sunflowers to grow. The sunflowers in the photo above, were in my garden last year. Not only do they add happiness to a garden, they also attract bees, which is essential for a successful growing season.

  1. I remember these beautiful sunflowers which you showed last summer. Let's hope they will grow as high this summer again.

  2. Hello Eva, I plan on planting all different colors of sunflowers, all around the boarder of my garden this year, to form a fence. I think this will be pleasant to look at while at the same time attracting bees.

  3. Hi Lydia!

Thanks for stopping by today! I am so jealous that you will have a veggie garden. Gardens are so beautiful! I live in a small apartment, and there is no space for a real garden. But, maybe I could try growing some herbs out on my deck. We'll see... :)

  4. Hello Lone beader, You would do so well growing herbs from your deck. I did that every summer when I had an apartment. I just enjoyed sitting on my deck looking at my potted herbs. They are really easy to grow in a pot. You can even bring them in, so they'll last a bit longer when the weather get's colder.

  7. Sunflowers are so happy. Now and then I see giant ones being grown and love the way they hang their heavy heads. Good luck with the gardening. Leave the housework - it can wait, good gardening weather cannot.

By the way, I have tagged you for a meme.

  9. Jan, Hello and thanks! I love putting sunflowers in my garden. They add so much color to it. Don't worry. I always find myself having doing the same thing.

Linda, Thank you. I am going to make sure to try and let the housework go so that I can spend more time outdoors this summer. Summer is too short in my parts to stay locked up in the house.

Jamersonrising, Every year I make sure to plant them in my veggie garden. I also love to plant marigolds between my vegetable plants through out the whole garden. I find my veggies grow better with marigolds along side of them. I will be starting my merigolds indoors within the next week or so.
