The Meditation

This is an oil painting I did a few years back. I named it "the meditation." At the time painting was a form of meditation for me. I was studying a sodalite stone one day and I saw the shapes in it formed the facial features of a man. I decided to use the face I saw in the stone as the man's face in my painting. Have a great weekend.

  2. Hello Lydia,
this is a wonderful painting, so serene and meditative. I like the color contrasts between the red robe the man is wearing and the dark blue background with a wonderful full moon in the night-sky.
    Wishing you a peaceful Saturday,

  8. This is so cool! Hey Lydia, sorry I've not been around for a while - family stuff has kept me out of the blog-visiting circuit.

This painting reminds me of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado. I would love to see your version of the "Three Little Maids From School".

  9. Hello Kat, Thank you! I know what you mean. I'm finding it harder to be online myself with garden season here and my daughter getting done with school soon. Have a wonderful evening!

  10. nice painting. I like the details in the flowers and grass. I think meditation in todays world has really lost it's place. There was a time, when people meditated so they could levitate ... or even today certain monks meditate to raise their body temperature while sitting in soaked clothes on a winter evening.

  11. Hello Nabeel, Thank you! I also think that meditation has lost it's place. It use to be so sacred and personal. I feel regular meditation keeps me focused and grounded in my everyday life. These days it's very hard to find alone time with my two young children. Have a great day!
