Lilies and Roses

Painting By John Singer Sargent "Carnation, Lily, Lily Rose"
When roses are in full bloom, the most magical place to be is in a rose garden. There the senses are bombarded with the glorious colours, shapes and perfumes of the flowers. And we easily can enjoy all of these tributes indoors. It takes no more than a single rose in a vase, a bowl of fragrant potpourri, a deliciously scented perfume or soap, or a delectable sweet to take us back into that wonderfully perfumed garden at any time we wish.

  1. Good afternoon, dear Lydia,
rose potpourris are nice for indoors. They evoke the lingering perfume of summer, long after this beautiful season is gone.
Wishing you a pleasant Sunday afternoon,
    Lia

  2. Hello Lia,
I have to purchase some potpourris this winter. What I like to do is dry out my lavendar blooms and put them in my potpourri burner. This makes the house smell of sweet lavendar.
    Have a nice Sunday,
    Lydia

  4. Good Morning Lydia, I love potpourris. I usually try to keep some around during the winter when we have to keep the house shut up.

  5. How perfect. I arrive on a day you're discussing roses and potpourri. You won't believe this, but because I have so many roses, I have tons and tons of potpourri. I've actually stopped collecting pedals because I just put a 20 gallons bucket of potpourris on the compost pile. No one to give it to. :( And still have more!

Your comment on Friday made me laugh so hard girlfriend! You said have a happy Tuesday. Okay. Do I have to wait until Tuesday??!!! That was too funny. And thanks for the birthday wishes. You're photos are beautiful as always. I have some catching up to do, so I'm off to take a look around.

  7. Hello Bindi,
Unfortunately I don't have any jasmine in my yard. I do plan on getting a jasmine bush one day. My mom use to have a huge jasmine bush in her backyard. I remember picking bouquets of them to bring back to my house while they were in bloom. They were so beautiful!
    Wishing you a pleasant monday,
    Lydia

    Hello Suzanne,
Making your own potpourri sounds nice. I have to learn how to make it. You have tons of beautiful roses in your yard!!!!
I can't believe that I wrote "have a nice tuesday"! At times my mind is on cloud 9 and I have to bring myself back to earth. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that.
I'm happy you like my photos. Lately I've been having so much fun snapping shots out in nature.
I hope you had a great birthday!
    Wishing you a pleasant Monday,
    Lydia

    Hello Judy,
It's nice to have the home smelling of flowers when the colder weather kicks in and all those pretty blooms are long gone.
My friend always likes to give my potpourri as a gift.
    Have a great Monday,
    Lydia

    Hello Deepak,
I also love this painting. It's one of my favorites.
Thank you for the kind complement on my photos. I think I have found a new fun hobby, taking photos of things that capture my attention.
I would also like to get back to the butterfly sanctuary, so I can take more butterfly pics.
    Have a great Monday,
    Lydia
