Mother Nature

Nature is the gentlest mother,
Impatient of no child,
The feeblest or the waywardest,
Her admonition mild

In forest and hill
By traveller is heard,
Restraining rampant squirrel
Or too impetuous bird.

How fair her conversation,
A summer afternoon,-
Her household, her assembly;
And when the the sun goes down

Her voice among the aisles
Incites the timid prayer
Of the minutest cricket,
The most unworthy flower.

When the children sleep
She turnes as long away
As will suffice to light her lamps;
Then, bending from the sky

With infinate affection
And infiniter care,

Her golden finger on her lip,
Wills silence everywhere.

  2. Hello Jamerson,
Thank you. I love nature. It inspires me in many ways.
I am happy the Paul M song brought back memories! I like his music. Paul M. is such a talented singer! What a great gift to have!
I like Elmily Dickinson too. I took this poem out of a book of all of emily dickenson's poetry. One of my friends gave it to me as a gift a few years back.
    Have a wonderful evening.
It's rainy and yucky here tonight.

  3. What a beautiful poem you chose for your new post, Lydia !

I love Emily Dickinson's poetry. She is my favourite American poet.

Nature is a gentle mother, surely. But you are a gentle mother, too.
Your children are lucky to have you as a caring mother.

How is the garden coming along?
Will you show some more artwork on your artblog soon? For example the "Feminine Dream", I love it.

    Wishing you a bright day,
    Olivia

  5. Hello Olivia,
Thank you! I'm happy you like my coice Of Emily Dickinson poems!
I also want to thank you for the nice complement. I try to raise my children in a gentle manner!
I have been so busy, between working outside the home and getting my veggies in, I've not had as much time online. I am also prepairing to send your package out with your letter.
I planted my eggplant, summer squash and green peppers today. I am hand digging the whole garden as I plant this year. I get tired of looking for someone to till it, so I just decided to turn it myself.
As soon as the planting and weeding settle down I will post more art on my art blog again!
I'm happy you like the "feminine dream". it is one of my favorites too.
I hope your enjoying your longer warmer and sunny days!
Many blessings from me to you!

  7. Bonjour Lydia,
so your garden is keeping you busy, that's good.

I love the new header of this blog, the gentle roses, they are so beautiful.

The weather is warming up here: 22 degrees Celsius in Nimes/South of France. It seems as if spring is really short and summer is setting in already. At least for me, this is almost summer.

But for Southerners summer starts when the scale will climb up to 40 degrees - Sahara !

    Wishing you a pleasant Thursday,
    Olivia

  9. ... and I see that you have chosen a new background, too.
It goes very well with your new header of the pale pink roses, giving your blog a whole new look, very feminine and soft.

25 degrees celsius in Nimes, the night is warm. I have just watered my plants.

Wishing you a good night, Lydia.
