A Moonlit Ride
This is a watercolor I had posted on my old blog. I painted this back in October of 2007. Halloween is my favorite holiday. It's always been. I love the crisp leaves crunching under my feet as I work in my gardens to prepare them for sleep. Driving to my local apple store to buy apples and cider is also a favorite thing for me to do. Not to forget to mention going to the pumpkin patch to get pumpkins . The most enjoyment I get during the month of October is on Halloween night, when all the children come out wearing their very creative costumes.

Hello Eva, Thanks so much! Have a great evening.

ReplyDeleteI hope for more.
Now and here, the snow disappearing rapidly. Next week are we promised 15C 59F and sunshine.
"In Sweden long ago, Easter was thought to be the witches' time. In west Sweden they lit Easter bonfires around which people would scream and yell to frighten away the witches. On Maundy Thursday the witches were said to fly off to "BlÄkulla" and return again on the Saturday.
Nowadays, children dress up as Easter witches on the Thursday before Easter and go from house to house and are given gifts or money - very similar to the North American Halloween."
A little question about the Italian seasoning. Are you doing the blend yourself and if you do how do you do it?
ReplyDeleteHello Eric, Thank you. How interesting about the Swedish tradition of Easter. Thanks so much for sharing this information with me. I love to hear about all different kinds of customs from around the world. It sounds a lot like our halloween. Do the children go door to door at night or during the day?
ReplyDeleteI usually buy a spice called "Italian seasoning," but you can also mix some yourself, by using equal parts of oregano, basil and parsley. I hope this helped you. Have a great day.
Thank you
ReplyDeleteNowadays it is not as it used to be with traditions, you never know when they will knock on your door.
It is the same in the Halloween time,
since a couple of years children knocks on the door and asks for candy.
But this year in our neighborhood the children don't ask for gifts. Instead they are giving gifts. I like that more.
Hello Eric, I wish they came to my door and gave me gifts. I think that sounds like even more fun. How exciting that must be, to have kids knock on your door and hand you a gift!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great watercolor, Lydia! You are such a versatile artist, which is the mark of real talent!
