This is a watercolor I did in 1997. At the time I was pumping out artwork like crazy. I hope to do that again soon. It feels so good just to get lost in my creativity when I get the time. This may be used in one of the projects I'm presently working on, which is creating a deck of butterfly knowledge cards. This particular painting was named "The Chrysalis."
While I was painting this piece I was thinking of the times when life can seem so dull and negative. If only we can look past the darkness that may be in our lives, we will know that light, love and change are waiting for us. During times of trouble we have to get through that door and out of the blackness to feel and see that good things are indeed presented in front of us.

The violet chrysalis looks lovely, Lydia. The framing in black with green growing out of the left bottom corner is so interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have added positive thoughts about looking past the darkness. The light will certainly shine again in both our lives, yours and mine, I am sure.
Hello, Thank you so much for your comment. I'm very happy you like this piece. As I looked at this painting and the colors and mages associated with it, I felt this was the appropriate interpretation behind it. I certainly believe you are right about the both of us!
ReplyDeleteI love your sentences and art works Lydia. I wish I can write down more English to tell you what wonderful feeling I got from your art and positive thoughts.

Hello Kathleen, Thank you so much for adding me to your link. I have done the same for you. I'm also praying for an early spring, so I can get going on my veggie garden.
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a door, or a painting within a painting. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank You oswegan!
ReplyDeleteI find OSWEGAN's comment very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis could be a door indeed, a door leading your soul from darkness into light.
How about it?
Hello givethemhell, You may be very right! I love when other people can see things in my work.
ReplyDeleteI love the vibrant colors in your painting, Lydia. It took the other comments to show me, but the idea of a door leading to some intriguing and mysterious place comes to life when I look at it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting, Lydia.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are very right...in any challenging situation, it helps to remember that these are growing pains and will lead to either better times or at the very least, greater wisdom.
Hello Linda, Thank you. It's interesting how different people see different things in art.
ReplyDeleteHello Amber, Thank you. You are very right. If things don't go the way we want, we do end up benefiting from the wisdom we gained through the experience.
Your paintings are truly vibrant! How happy sweet it must be to wake up and see them hanging on your wall...
