Antioxidants tend to interfere with developing diseases by neutralizing free radicals. Look for fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants, as well as vitamins C and E.
Apricots, asparagus, beets, carrots, squash, yams, and tomatoes all have high levels of carotenoids.
Citrus fruits such as broccoli, cantaloupe, kale, sweet peppers, and strawberries are all high in vitamin C. Regular consumption of vitamin C is know to reduce the duration of a cold.
Foods with high levels of E include almonds, peanut butter, salmon and sunflower seeds. Regular intake of foods containing vitamin E helps to keep our skin looking healthy.
Great post, Lydia.

ReplyDeleteThere is a saying in Sudan
(We eat with our eyes)
This means the importance of even the form or mebe the figer of the food,
(Eating the color of the rainbow)
I have learned a lot here today
Thank you
Hello Osama,
ReplyDeleteI am very glad that you found this post interesting!
Your saying in Sudan is very wise. The most important thing we can do for ourselves is to keep our bodies strong with healthy food when we can.
I am still trying to teach my children the importance of that, but they do not like vegetables and only eat some fruit.
Wishing you a very beautiful evening,
Lydia
Hello Lydia,
ReplyDeleteHow interesting your post is, and I like the expression "Eating the color of the rainbow."
And you are quite right to teach your children to eat the right things.
A varied diet is the key of good health. We, like you, are growing bio vegetables in our garden. We are lucky !
Thank you very much for stopping by my blogs and for your comments.
See you around.
