Serviceberry Bushes

When I moved into my house in 2002, I planted 3 serviceberry bushes.
The reason why I planted them, was because I read about the profuse blossoms they had in the spring.
These days I realize there are more pleasant surprises this unique bush has to offer.
One is that the serviceberries are absolutely delicious in the summer. The birds think so too.
The other neat thing about service berry bushes are that they have spectacular foliage in mid October.

Growing Greens in the Garden

To save on room when I plant, I always plant my escarole and other greens close together.
When its time to thin out the rows, I either eat greens I pull, or transplant them into another area of the garden.
The best way to enjoy cooked greens is to saute them in garlic, olive oil, and salt and pepper.
After they're done cooking a squeeze of lemon adds a nice zing to the dish.

Currant and Black Cherry Jam

There are tons of currants on my front bush. There's also a row of wild black cherry trees in my back yard with a lot of ripe cherries on them right now.
Looks like I'm going to start making my jam! I harvested many berries today.

Frost Ruined Most Of The Cherry Picking Here

Unfortunately, while I was picking strawberries at the farm yesterday, I was told there would be no cherry picking, because the late frost ruined the blossoms. The same goes for my apricot trees.
Looks like I won't be making cherry jam this summer.

It's Strawberry Season!

I just came back from picking strawberries at the fruit farm.
They're so delicious!
I usually have my daily chocolate protein shake for lunch. Today I blended a bunch of fresh strawberries with my shake. I must say it was so tasty and very refreshing.

My Cousin's Wedding

On Saturday I attended my cousin's wedding. I haven't seen many of my relatives from my mom's side of the family in years.
Both me and my husband had a great time. It was nice to see everyone again.
My mom has a very big family, so I have a lot of cousins.

Our Patio's Coming Together Nicely

We've finally started laying down the fieldstone on our patio today. Hubby's off of work today so he can work on the patio. It's going to look amazing!
I plan in planting blueberry bushes all around the outer edges of the patio.

Bunny on my porch every morning

There's been a bunny visiting my porch every morning this week.
It's so cute. It loves to hang around my potted herb plants.

My cat Jane goes crazy when she sees this bunny on the porch.
I'm sure it lives in my front landscape.

In the second picture Jane sees the bunny. Jane's ear is in the picture, because she's standing up looking at the rabbit.

Making a Fieldstone Patio

My husband and I just started making our new patio today. Needless to say I'm exhusted right now! What a hell of a lower body and arm workout today, digging the patio while my husband gathered large fieldstone from the farm next to us. I started at 10:00 am and finished at 5:00pm.
Im so ready for a relaxing shower and a nice glass of red wine right now.

Midnight Garden Abstract

This is an oil painting I started yesterday and finished today.
There's some glare on it, because the painting is still very wet.
